World Messianic Bible

The World Messianic Bible (WMB) is an edition of the World English Bible, the public domain modern English translation project headed by Michael Paul Johnson and distributed by eBible.org. eBible.org describes it as a translation into the English spoken among Messianic Jews, and notes that it has also been called the World English Bible: Messianic Edition and the Hebrew Names Version.
The WEB is an update of the 1901 American Standard Version, checked against the original language texts. The WMB follows that same text but restores the Hebrew form of names. In Matthew we read Yeshua rather than Jesus, Messiah rather than Christ, and Miriam rather than Mary; a footnote explains that Yeshua means salvation. God's own name, however, appears as LORD in capitals, as in many translations, not as Yahweh.
It helps to be clear about the scope. The WMB is not an independent translation or a confessional one: it is the WEB with Hebrew names, in American English. eBible.org does not name the translators of this edition, and Midvash already carries the World English Bible, which serves readers who prefer the familiar English forms. The WMB serves those who want the same text with names that echo the Hebrew, whether from Messianic tradition or from curiosity about the Jewish roots of the faith.
The text is dedicated to the public domain and may be copied and shared freely. There is one condition: World Messianic Bible is a trademark, so anyone who changes the text should not call it by that name. The edition here matches the stable text of August 2022.
