Alkitab Terjemahan Sederhana

The Alkitab Terjemahan Sederhana Indonesia (TSI), published in its current form in 2021, is a translation of the Scriptures into modern Indonesian produced by Yayasan Alkitab BahasaKita. The project aims to offer an accessible biblical text, especially geared toward readers who find difficulty with the more formal vocabulary of classical Indonesian translations.
The translation methodology adopts a functional-equivalence approach, prioritizing clarity and naturalness in everyday Indonesian. Complex syntactic structures of the original Hebrew and Greek are often reformulated to resonate with the way native Indonesian speakers express ideas in daily life. Technical theological terms are usually accompanied by contextual explanations, and ancient cultural references are given notes that aid comprehension without overburdening the reader.
Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim-majority nation by population, also hosts the largest Christian community in Southeast Asia, with a strong Protestant and Catholic presence especially in regions such as North Sumatra, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua. The TSI meets the growing demand for a Bible that communicates effectively with younger generations and with new Christian readers, complementing the traditional Terjemahan Baru. The current edition includes 48 books — some Old Testament books are still in the process of translation and revision.
The text is distributed under an open license by Yayasan Alkitab BahasaKita, permitting ministerial, devotional, and study use. Specific licensing details should be consulted directly with the publishing organization, but the work is made available free of charge on digital Bible platforms for broad reach in the Indonesian context.
