Like a weaned child

y heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.a ²But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content.b ³Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore.c

Commentary

Psalm 131 is one of the shortest and most intimate songs in the Psalter, a quiet prayer of humility and trust attributed to David. In just three verses, the psalmist declares a heart that is not proud, eyes that are not haughty, and a soul that has been weaned from restless ambition
