Kitaabka Quduuska Ah
so
The Kitaabka Quduuska Ah ("The Holy Book") is the Somali Bible known as the Adan Jim'ale Version. Copyright belongs to the Society for International Ministries (SIM) in Kenya, dated 1979 and 2008: SIM published the complete edition in 2008. It is one of very few whole Bibles in a language spoken by millions in the Horn of Africa and across the Somali diaspora.
We found no detailed public account of its method. What the text shows is a translation that stays close to the form of the original at key points: in John 3:16 it keeps "only begotten Son" (Wiilkiisa keliya oo dhashay), and Psalm 23 opens with the Lord as shepherd (Rabbigu waa adhijirka i jira). Somali is written in the Latin alphabet, and that is the script used here.
It serves anyone who reads Somali and wants the whole biblical text, Genesis to Revelation, in their own language. The honest limit is that we could not confirm how much the 1979 text was revised in 2008, or which team worked at each stage; and vocabulary rooted in the 1970s may sound dated to younger readers today.
The rights holder released the text under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license. It allows anyone to read and share it for free, as long as the text stays unaltered and is not used commercially. That is why the Kitaabka Quduuska Ah is here in full to read for free on Midvash, but is left out of the public API, audio and AI features, which would go beyond what the license allows.
