Indian Revised Version (Odia)

or

The Indian Revised Version (IRV) in Odia belongs to a larger project by Bridge Connectivity Solutions (BCS), an Indian organization that, from 2017 onward, set out to revise the classic Bibles of the country's major languages. This edition carries a copyright of 2017, 2019, 2021 and reached readers through FreeBiblesIndia and eBible.org. The idea is simple: keep the text that churches in Odisha already know, and clear away what has aged.

The method is revision, not translation from scratch. Spelling, vocabulary and turns of phrase that felt distant to today's reader were updated, while sentence structure stays close to the formal tradition of the older versions. Even so, the copyright page of this edition lists five stages: drafting by mother tongue translators, community checking by the church, review by a local consultant (theologian or linguist), checking by church network leaders, and a further quality check that is still marked as in progress.

It suits anyone who reads Odia and wants a text that sounds familiar in church yet reads more easily than the old editions. The honest limit is documentation: BCS publishes little about the team and the criteria behind each revision, so serious study should compare it with another version and, where possible, with the Hebrew and Greek.

BCS released the text under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license (CC BY-SA 4.0). Anyone may read, quote and redistribute it freely, as long as credit is given and the same license is kept. That is why it is here in full, at no cost.
