Ruth 2:7

⁷She asked me this morning if she could gather grain behind the harvesters. She has been hard at work ever since, except for a few minutes’ rest in the shelter.”

Ruth 2 marks a pivotal turn in the narrative, as Ruth, a Moabite widow, goes to glean in the fields to provide for herself and Naomi. By divine providence, she “happens” upon the field of Boaz, a wealthy and honorable relative of Naomi's late husband. Boaz, hearing of Ruth's loyalty and kindness to Naomi, extends extraordinary favor and protection to her. This chapter beautifully illustrates God's providential care for the vulnerable, the importance of covenant loyalty, and the unfolding of redemption through unexpected means.
