¹⁸She carried it back into town and showed it to her mother-in-law. Ruth also gave her the roasted grain that was left over from her meal.

Ruth 2 marks a pivotal turn in the narrative, as Ruth, a Moabite widow, goes to glean in the fields to provide for herself and Naomi. By divine providence, she “happens” upon the field of Boaz, a wealthy and honorable relative of Naomi's late husband. Boaz, hearing of Ruth's loyalty and kindness to Naomi, extends extraordinary favor and protection to her. This chapter beautifully illustrates God's providential care for the vulnerable, the importance of covenant loyalty, and the unfolding of redemption through unexpected means.
