Ezra 7:21

²¹I Artaxerxes the king have ordered and decreed to all the keepers of the public chest, that are beyond the river, that whatsoever Esdras the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, you give it without delay,

Ezra 7 marks a dramatic pivot in the post-exilic story. Nearly sixty years after the temple was rebuilt (Ezra 6), a new figure arrives: Ezra the scribe, a priest with the law of God in his heart and the Persian king's decree in his hand. The chapter traces his genealogy back to Aaro
