Zechariah 1:6

⁶Only, My words, and My statutes, That I commanded My servants the prophets, Have they not overtaken your fathers, And they turn back and say: As Jehovah of Hosts designed to do to us, According to our ways, and according to our doings, So He hath done to us?'

Zechariah 1 opens with a call to repentance and a series of eight night visions that launch the prophet's ministry to post-exilic Judah. The chapter establishes the book's central tension: God's people have returned from Babylon but remain spiritually sluggish, living under Persian
