Matthew 24:7-10

⁷For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places.g

⁸But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.h

⁹“Then they will deliver you up to oppression and will kill you. You will be hated by all of the nations for my name’s sake.i

¹⁰Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another.

Matthew 24 is the Olivet Discourse, Jesus’s longest prophetic sermon, delivered from the Mount of Olives overlooking the temple. It begins with the disciples marveling at the temple buildings, and Jesus startling them by predicting its complete destruction. The chapter then unfol
