Luke 10:1-2

¹Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him into every city and place where he was about to come.a

²Then he said to them, “The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send out laborers into his harvest.b

Luke 10 pivots from the mission of the seventy-two to the defining question of eternal life. Jesus sends out disciples with urgency and vulnerability, then receives them back with joy. The chapter’s centerpiece is the parable of the Good Samaritan, which redefines “neighbor” beyond
