Judges 10:16

¹⁶They put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

Judges 10 marks a significant turning point in the book of Judges, showcasing Israel's cyclical pattern of sin, oppression, repentance, and deliverance. After the relatively peaceful periods under Tola and Jair, the Israelites again abandon the Lord for foreign gods, leading to severe oppression by the Philistines and Ammonites. Their desperate cry for help is met with a stern rebuke from God, who reminds them of their past unfaithfulness. Yet, in a display of divine compassion, God's heart is moved by their suffering, setting the stage for the rise of Jephthah.
