Isaiah 5:2

²He hoed the soil and pulled the weeds, and planted the very best vines. He built a lookout, built a winepress, a vineyard to be proud of. He looked for a vintage yield of grapes, but for all his pains he got junk grapes.b

Isaiah 5 opens with the Song of the Vineyard, a poignant parable of God's faithful care for Israel and their bitter fruit of injustice. The chapter then pivots to a series of six "woes" pronounced against the nation's leaders and people for their greed, drunkenness, moral inversion,
