John 2:16-17

¹⁶And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.e

¹⁷And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.f

John 2 opens with Jesus at a wedding in Cana, where he performs his first sign — turning water into wine — revealing his glory and prompting his disciples to believe. The chapter then pivots sharply to Jerusalem, where Jesus cleanses the temple, driving out merchants and overturning
