Proverbs 30:8-9

⁸Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me,d

⁹lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.e

Proverbs 30 stands apart in the book as the “words of Agur son of Jakeh.” It is a collection of sayings that shift from the confident wisdom of Solomon to a posture of humility and awe before a God whose ways are beyond human comprehension. Agur opens with a confession of his own
