Numbers 21:8-9

⁸And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”b

⁹So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.c

Numbers 21 recounts Israel's continued journey through the wilderness, marked by both victory and severe judgment. It opens with a triumph over the Canaanites, but quickly shifts to the people's renewed grumbling against God and Moses, leading to a plague of poisonous snakes.
