Proverbs 26:23-26

²³Silver of dross spread over potsherd, [Are] burning lips and an evil heart.

²⁴By his lips doth a hater dissemble, And in his heart he placeth deceit,

²⁵When his voice is gracious trust not in him, For seven abominations [are] in his heart.e

²⁶Hatred is covered by deceit, Revealed is its wickedness in an assembly.

Proverbs 26 is a collection of vivid, often humorous sayings that expose the folly of the fool, the sluggard, and the gossip. The chapter opens with warnings against honoring the undeserving and moves through a series of memorable images — a dog returning to its vomit, a door turning on its hinges,
