Matthew 4:7

⁷Jesus said to him again, 'It hath been written, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.'f

Matthew 4 opens with Jesus being led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, a direct confrontation that echoes Israel's testing in the desert. After forty days of fasting, Jesus resists each temptation by quoting Scripture, demonstrating his faithfulness where Israel failed
