Acts 2:3-4

³and there appeared to them divided tongues, as it were of fire; it sat also upon each one of them,c

⁴and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, according as the Spirit was giving them to declare.d

Acts 2 records the birth of the church at Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descends on the apostles in wind and fire, enabling them to speak in other languages. Peter preaches a sermon that interprets this event through Joel's prophecy and the resurrection of Jesus, calling the crowd
