2 Timothy 4:6-8

⁶for I am already being poured out, and the time of my release hath arrived;f

⁷the good strife I have striven, the course I have finished, the faith I have kept,g

⁸henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of the righteousness that the Lord — the Righteous Judge — shall give to me in that day, and not only to me, but also to all those loving his manifestation.h

2 Timothy 4 is Paul’s final charge to Timothy and his own last recorded words. The chapter opens with a solemn, almost judicial commission: preach the word, whether convenient or not, because a time is coming when people will reject sound teaching. Paul then speaks with the quiet
