Matthew 4:8-9

⁸Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.g

⁹He said to him, “I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me.”

Matthew 4 opens with Jesus being led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, a direct confrontation that echoes Israel's testing in the desert. After forty days of fasting, Jesus resists each temptation by quoting Scripture, demonstrating his faithfulness where Israel failed
