Judges 20:13

¹³Now therefore deliver up the men, the wicked fellows who are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death and put away evil from Israel.” But Benjamin would not listen to the voice of their brothers, the children of Israel.

Judges 20 details the devastating civil war between the united tribes of Israel and the tribe of Benjamin, sparked by the horrific crime in Gibeah. The other tribes gather to demand justice, but Benjamin defiantly refuses, leading to a series of bloody battles. Despite initial setbacks and heavy losses for Israel, they ultimately prevail, nearly annihilating Benjamin. The chapter vividly portrays the depths of Israel's moral decay and the tragic consequences of a nation without a king, where “everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”
