Isaiah 26:1-2

¹In that day, this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “We have a strong city. God appoints salvation for walls and bulwarks.

²Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter: the one which keeps faith.a

Isaiah 26 is a song of trust and longing, sung by a people who have learned to wait on the Lord. Set within Isaiah's larger “Apocalypse of Isaiah” (chapters 24–27), this chapter contrasts the security of those who trust in God with the futility of those who trust in human strength.
