Ruth 1:11

¹¹But Naomi replied, “Why should you go on with me? Can I still give birth to other sons who could grow up to be your husbands?

The book of Ruth 1 opens with a scene of famine and migration, as Elimelech and his family leave Bethlehem for Moab. Tragedy strikes, leaving Naomi a widow and then bereft of her two sons, who had married Moabite women. In her deep grief, Naomi decides to return to Judah, urging her daughters-in-law, Orpah and Ruth, to remain in Moab. While Orpah eventually departs, Ruth makes a profound declaration of loyalty, choosing to stay with Naomi and embrace her people and her God, setting the stage for a story of faithfulness, redemption, and divine providence amidst human sorrow.
