James 5:1-3

¹Look here, you rich people: Weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you.a

²Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags.b

³Your gold and silver are corroded. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment.c

James 5 brings the letter to a powerful close with three movements: a stern warning to the wealthy who oppress the poor, a call to patient endurance until the Lord's return, and instructions for prayer and community care. The chapter pivots from judgment to hope, from the arrogance
