Proverbs 30:8-9

⁸Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.d

⁹Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.e

Proverbs 30 stands apart in the book as the “words of Agur son of Jakeh.” It is a collection of sayings that shift from the confident wisdom of Solomon to a posture of humility and awe before a God whose ways are beyond human comprehension. Agur opens with a confession of his own
