Isaiah 44:3-4

³For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.b

⁴They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams.c

Isaiah 44 is a chapter of stark contrasts: tender promise and fierce polemic. The Lord first pours out comfort on His chosen servant Israel, promising Spirit and blessing upon their descendants. Then, in a dramatic pivot, He exposes the absurdity of idolatry with surgical satire
