Acts 2:38-39

³⁸Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.u

³⁹The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”v

Acts 2 records the birth of the church at Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descends on the apostles in wind and fire, enabling them to speak in other languages. Peter preaches a sermon that interprets this event through Joel's prophecy and the resurrection of Jesus, calling the crowd
