Proverbs 10:19-21

¹⁹In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.j

²⁰The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

²¹The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

Proverbs 10 marks a decisive shift in the book of Proverbs. The extended discourses of chapters 1–9 give way to a collection of individual, pithy sayings—the first of several Solomonic collections. Each verse is a self-contained unit, typically a two-line parallelism contrasting the
