Psalm 83 is a community lament, a desperate cry from Israel as a coalition of surrounding nations plots its annihilation. The psalmist lists the confederacy—Edom, Moab, Ammon, Philistia, Tyre, Assyria, and others—and pleads with God to act as He did in the days of Deborah and Gideon
