Isaiah 5:2

²He dug it and cleared it of stones, and planted it with choice vines; he built a watchtower in the midst of it, and hewed out a wine vat in it; and he looked for it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes.b

Isaiah 5 opens with the Song of the Vineyard, a poignant parable of God's faithful care for Israel and their bitter fruit of injustice. The chapter then pivots to a series of six "woes" pronounced against the nation's leaders and people for their greed, drunkenness, moral inversion,
