Genesis 4:9

⁹Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?”

Genesis 4 chronicles the tragic story of Cain and Abel, the first recorded murder in human history, born from jealousy and unrighteousness. Following their parents' expulsion from Eden, the narrative quickly descends into deeper sin, revealing humanity's fallen nature and God's persistent, though often sorrowful, engagement with it.
