Numbers 16:49-50

⁴⁹And the number of them that were slain was fourteen thousand and seven hundred men, besides them that had perished in the sedition of Core.

⁵⁰And Aaron returned to Moses to the door of the tabernacle of the covenant after the destruction was over.

In **Numbers 16**, we witness a dramatic challenge to Moses' and Aaron's leadership by Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and 250 prominent leaders. This rebellion questions God's chosen authority, accusing Moses and Aaron of exalting themselves above the community. God responds with swift and terrifying judgment, causing the earth to swallow the rebels and fire to consume the 250 leaders. Despite this, the people complain again, leading to a plague that kills 14,700, only stopped by Aaron's intercession, powerfully affirming God's unique appointment of the Aaronic priesthood.
