Matthew 4:9

⁹And said to him: All these will I give thee, if falling down thou wilt adore me.

Matthew 4 opens with Jesus being led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, a direct confrontation that echoes Israel's testing in the desert. After forty days of fasting, Jesus resists each temptation by quoting Scripture, demonstrating his faithfulness where Israel failed
