Matthew 4:15-16

¹⁵Land of Zabulon and land of Nephthalim, the way of the sea beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles:l

¹⁶The people that sat in darkness, hath seen great light: and to them that sat in the region of the shadow of death, light is sprung up.m

Matthew 4 opens with Jesus being led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, a direct confrontation that echoes Israel's testing in the desert. After forty days of fasting, Jesus resists each temptation by quoting Scripture, demonstrating his faithfulness where Israel failed
