John 8:30-36

³⁰When he spoke these things, many believed in him.

³¹Then Jesus said to those Jews, who believed him: If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed.l

³²And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.m

³³They answered him: We are the seed of Abraham, and we have never been slaves to any man: how sayest thou: you shall be free?n

³⁴Jesus answered them: Amen, amen I say unto you: that whosoever committeth sin, is the servant of sin.o

³⁵Now the servant abideth not in the house for ever; but the son abideth for ever.p

³⁶If therefore the son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.q

John 8 opens with the dramatic scene of a woman caught in adultery, brought before Jesus as a trap. Jesus' response — "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her" — disarms her accusers and offers her not condemnation but a call to new life. The chapte
