⁵And when the days of their feasting were gone about, Job sent to them, and sanctified them: and rising up early offered holocausts for every one of them. For he said: Lest perhaps my sons have sinned, and have blessed God in their hearts. So did Job all days.b

Job 1 opens the book with a scene in heaven that sets the stage for one of Scripture's most profound explorations of suffering and faith. Job is introduced as a blameless and upright man, blessed with wealth and family. In a heavenly council, Satan challenges Job's motives, arguing
