Exodus 34:12

¹²Beware thou never join in friendship with the inhabitants of that land, which may be thy ruin:

Exodus 34 recounts the renewal of the covenant between God and Israel after the catastrophic sin of the golden calf. Moses ascends Mount Sinai again, where God reveals His character as merciful and gracious, yet just. God then reinscribes the Ten Commandments on new stone tablets and reiterates key covenant stipulations, particularly regarding worship, festivals, and separation from pagan practices.
