Exodus 33:2

²And I will send an angel before thee, that I may cast out the Chanaanite, and the Amorrhite, and the Hethite, and the Pherezite, and the Hevite, and the Jebusite.

In **Exodus 33**, following the golden calf idolatry, God declares He will not go with Israel into the Promised Land, but will send an angel instead. This news deeply grieves the people. Moses intercedes passionately, seeking God's continued presence and glory. God relents, affirming His unique relationship with Moses and promising His presence, though He only reveals His goodness and back, not His full face, to Moses.
