Acts 2:38-39

³⁸But Peter said to them: Do penance, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins: and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.u

³⁹For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are far off, whomsoever the Lord our God shall call.v

Acts 2 records the birth of the church at Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descends on the apostles in wind and fire, enabling them to speak in other languages. Peter preaches a sermon that interprets this event through Joel's prophecy and the resurrection of Jesus, calling the crowd
