Mark 3:7-8

⁷And Jesus with his disciples withdrew to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and from Judæa,

⁸and from Jerusalem, and from Idumæa, and beyond the Jordan, and about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, hearing what great things he did, came unto him.

Mark 3 intensifies the conflict surrounding Jesus’ ministry. He heals on the Sabbath, drawing the first explicit plot to kill him. Crowds press in, and Jesus appoints twelve apostles, a symbolic reconstitution of Israel. His family fears he is out of his mind, and scribes accuse him
