Judges 13:5

⁵for, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come upon his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.b

Judges 13 introduces Samson's miraculous birth, a pivotal moment in Israel's cycle of apostasy and deliverance. After forty years of Philistine oppression, an angel announces to a barren couple, Manoah and his wife, that they will have a son who will begin to rescue Israel. The angel provides specific instructions for the child's upbringing as a Nazirite, setting the stage for Samson's unique, yet ultimately tragic, role as a judge.
