James 3:15-17

¹⁵This wisdom is not [a wisdom] that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.k

¹⁶For where jealousy and faction are, there is confusion and every vile deed.l

¹⁷But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without variance, without hypocrisy.m

James 3 confronts the power of the tongue and the nature of true wisdom. James warns that the tongue, though small, can cause immense destruction, like a fire or a restless evil. He contrasts this with the wisdom from above, which is pure, peaceable, and full of mercy. The chapter c
