Haggai 2:7-9

⁷and I will shake all nations; and the precious things of all nations shall come; and I will fill this house with glory, saith Jehovah of hosts.d

⁸The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith Jehovah of hosts.e

⁹The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, saith Jehovah of hosts; and in this place will I give peace, saith Jehovah of hosts.f

Haggai 2 moves from rebuke to promise, from foundation to future glory. The chapter opens with the prophet addressing discouragement among the returned exiles who see the rebuilt temple as a pathetic shadow of Solomon's. God's response is staggering: the glory of this latter hous
