Matthew 4:17

¹⁷From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say: Do penance, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.n

Matthew 4 opens with Jesus being led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, a direct confrontation that echoes Israel's testing in the desert. After forty days of fasting, Jesus resists each temptation by quoting Scripture, demonstrating his faithfulness where Israel failed
