John 13:15-17

¹⁵For I have given you an example, that as I have done to you, so you do also.g

¹⁶Amen, amen I say to you: The servant is not greater than his lord; neither is the apostle greater than he that sent him.h

¹⁷If you know these things, you shall be blessed if you do them.i

John 13 marks a decisive pivot in the Fourth Gospel. Jesus, knowing his hour has come, washes his disciples' feet in an act of shocking humility, then identifies Judas as his betrayer and predicts Peter's denial. The chapter establishes the new commandment of love and models servant
