In Genesis 40, Joseph's time in an Egyptian prison continues, but his unique gift for interpreting dreams once again comes to the forefront. He interprets the dreams of Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker, accurately predicting their fates: the cupbearer's restoration and the baker's execution. This chapter highlights God's sovereign hand at work even in the midst of suffering and injustice, subtly moving pieces into place for Joseph's eventual elevation and the salvation of his family, though the cupbearer's forgetfulness delays the immediate outcome.
