²אם יחתרו בשאול משם ידי תקחם ואם יעלו השמים משם אורידם:

³ואם יחבאו בראש הכרמל משם אחפש ולקחתים ואם יסתרו מנגד עיני בקרקע הים משם אצוה את הנחש ונשכם:

Amos 9 brings the book to a stunning conclusion. The chapter opens with a vision of the Lord standing by the altar, pronouncing irreversible judgment on Israel. No one can escape — not by climbing to heaven, hiding in Sheol, or diving to the ocean floor. The nation will be sifted
